Some pirates achieve immortality by great deeds of cruelty or derring-do. Some achieved immortality by amassing great wealth. But the captain had long ago decided that he would, on the whole, prefer to achieve immortality by not dying.

  1. Is this Terry Pratchett of fantasy literature fame?  I don’t know much about Pratchett except for that he wrote a book, a parody called ‘Good Omens’ with Neil Gaiman that I read some time back.  It was a pretty funny book.

  2. Good luck with the Master’s Thesis!  A couple of years ago, I moved and while packing and unpacking, found the first draft of mine.  I didn’t finish it.  Are you thinking of going on after this for a PhD or is the Master’s a terminal degree for you?
